Field Trips & School Events

NYC trip

Every year, our sixth graders get a day to be tourists in the city that never sleeps. They take a ferry around Ellis Island, visit the top of One World Observatory, and enjoy lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Similarly, our 7th Grade students go to Philadelphia to visit the Franklin Institute of Technology.

Academic field trips

Mystic Aquarium

Tenement Museum

Quassey Park

Every June, sixth and seventh graders have a day of fun in the sun at Quassy Park with thrilling rides.

Career day

Every year, we invite members of the community to share their talents and stories with our students. We have hosted a diverse group of presenters - from a former alum, now an artist and Tiktok star, to a venture capitalist, to a search and rescue EMT, to a forensic scientist - our students enjoy learning the path to many exciting careers.

Spelling bee

Every year, students in all three grades face off against their peers to be crowned MS 343 spelling bee champion. This year, our top three spellers then represented us at the Bronx Spelling Bee, where, out of 50 students, they placed 1st, 3rd and 4th place! All three participated in the Citywide Spelling Bee and our top speller, Adrina, placed 10th in the entire city at the event hosted by the Academy of St. Joseph's!

Staff v. student games

Staff and students face off in volleyball and basketball, a fun tradition promoting school spirit and teamwork.

Assemblies

From author visits to mentalist performances to movie watch parties, students make memories in the auditorium.

MS 343 award ceremony

Students are recognized for achievements in academics, athletics, leadership, and personal growth, including the prestigious RISE Award for resilience, integrity, service, and excellence.
