MS343's 23-24 Broadway Season Opens with "Back to the Future," Thanks to Situation Project

In collaboration with Situation Project, MS343 has kicked off its annual Broadway season. Situation Project, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to increasing access to the arts for students who might not otherwise have the chance to revel in the magic of Broadway. Each week in October, MS343 takes one grade to see the latest Broadway show. The season opener this year was Back to the Future, a musical adaptation of the beloved 1985 film. As the curtains rose, students were propelled through time with Marty McFly and Doc Brown. The talented cast brought iconic characters to life, and the captivating score, along with stunning choreography and sets, added to the excitement. But what truly left the students in awe were the mind-blowing special effects. The production utilized cutting-edge technology to create an immersive experience. Time-traveling DeLoreans, hovering skateboards, and a spectacular lightning storm came to life with mesmerizing visuals. Innovative use of projection mapping and state-of-the-art sound design effortlessly transported the audience to different eras. The story, centered around friendship and determination, deeply resonated with the young audience.

As the final curtain fell, the students of MS343 left the theater full of smiles and questions about when they would get to come back to Broadway again. This partnership between MS343 and Situation Project ensures the next generation of performers, artists, and theater enthusiasts will have plenty of representation from the South Bronx. We are so grateful for this connection, and can't wait for the next adventure.
